Aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm - The aorta - Life after an aortic dissection

Hi Graeme

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I will be chatting and learning from this site.  Did you have Type B descending as well and how is it being treated?  I will know if I will need a stent after they do a cat scan or if meds alone will help it.

Thanks for this site.

I also have a type B Aortic dissection  that I have not had surgery on. I am 3 months into this and am not allowed to work. I am also wondering what to expect as far as healing time and what happens if the next ct scans and mri tells us that the meds have not healed this. I seem to be having issues with keeping my blood pressure stable it is either very high or it is very low. I am over weight by about 50 pounds and am working  hard to loose it by controlling my diet and  walking  (I am not sure what other type of exercise that i can do safely).

Hi Florence..no I had a full on type A Aortic Dissection that necessitated removing all of my aorta from the aortic root to past the aortic arch plus a new MHV as my aortic valve was also shredded.. 10 and half hours.. took a while to get over it - but all good now - 9 year anniversary next month!

cheers

Graeme
