Back and spinal chord pain - anyone?

Do any of you, or did any of you remember having such tiring back/spinal chord pain after your surgery?

I have reached that point in my healing process.

I know from having to sleep in a chair and such doesn't help, and the fact they cut thru my core muscles contributes, but I'm finding my pain meds do nothing to alleviate this issue.  I have tried icing my lower back and even tried lying slightly on my right side just to take the tension off my back.

Do any of you have…

Almost 3 weeks post surgery at what price?

In a few days I will be three weeks post opp  number two.

The things I am finding hardest are the various levels of discomfort & lack of sleep. Next week they want me to reduce my meds to just use paracetamol – are they mad?  I can just about manage the pain levels now.

My shoulder, where they opened me up, has just about healed, but it’s a constant source of discomfort & I can’t sit up for long, nor can I twist. The worst is my left lung, which they…

Medical terms can be challenging but internet explanations can freak you out.

I started looking through the paper work I have gotten since my surgery, so I started looking up what all the big words meant like Thrombocytosis, Leukocytosis, Mondor's disease and my list goes on.

I do know that I developed a blood clot in my upper chest post surgery (not any where near the incision and such) along with the 2 dvt's in my left leg and that is what led them to research my blood tests and that is when they found out that I had this factor 10 which is Lupus…

Since my Aortic Dissection in September 2010,  followed by two operations and a stent being put in,  I find that I live in almost daily fear of another dissection.  I have become very aware of my own mortality and I find it at times very stressful to live with. There are days when I am exhausted.

Five month update

I'm sure other long-term members will have noted this, but it's worth pointing out - if you've only recently had your surgery - healing takes a while. And I'm still experiencing it, albeit in more subtle ways than before.

When I first came home after having the ascending aorta and arch replaced with Dacron, I felt very disconnected from my chest and my lungs (although painfully connected when I moved). It's taken a long while for my breathing to feel like mine again, and my lung…

reply to Elaine

Elaine, just had the heart test done last week  and had my aorta scan the week before, I see the surgeon on the 18th and don't look forward to it since I complained about him!!  All the Drs are now wary of me since my complaint, even the ones down at the surgery, it's awful really, but I have to plod on, no good starting something I can't finish.  Will let you all know how it goes after the 18th, no doubt there will be some reson why I can't have it done......Then I bring in my MP....Heck,…

I'm back --- still drugged up quite a bit --- but I'm here

I'm not going to say that everything is wonderful and pain free and perfect as I think you all know that would be false but I have to say, I'm glad to be on this side of it.

I'm back home now - got home Saturday afternoon.  They got the Heparin level to a point where I don't have to give myself shots (there was no way - as is I got to the point of crying just seeing the lab people come in to draw more blood.  They all tried so hard to not hurt me using pediatric needles, warming the…
