hey all,

just an update for you all on my condition as I haven't been on here in a while.

at the beginning of August I had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. I went to an ENT doctor who packed my nose and was sent home to recover. The nosebleed didn't stop, so I was admitted to my local hospital while they tried to ascertain the cause and stop the bleeding. The cause was my INR which despite being a week in hospital without taking any Marcumar was still reading over 7.0…

eventful week

aye aye,

at the weekend i was intermittently tachycardic and my resting pulse has been around the 100 mark since then. i went to see my doctor on monday and he took some blood and sent it off for analysis. the results came back today and showed positive for some sort of infection (elevated CRP values - mine was 9.5 mg/l and normally it should be under 5). tomorrow morning i am at the cardiologist in order to rule out a bacterial infection on the heart valve.

i'll keep you all…

Look what I found...

so, i was doing a bit (well, actually i have been putting it off for quite a while so it turned out to be quite a lot) of filing and stumbled upon my first ever cat scan pictures 6 months post-op. unfortunately, i either gave my doctor or the consultant i went to see in the uk the CD with the pictures on, but i will take the paper copies to work tomorrow and scan them in (i can only do A4 at home and these are A3). what i find interesting to see are the mechanical valve, dacron conduit and…

HI  Richard,

Thanks for the welcome, this is the first time I've opened up  to

the public about what happened to me. I often read what's on the site.

I am happy to have someone to share with.

Thanks Richard for the welcome.  I've browsed the site a bit and see that everyone is a wealth of information.  I am coming up on my one year surgery anniversary next month.  I had endovascular repair of descending aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection.  My condition was accidentally discovered when I  had a minor cardiac surgery for an electrical problem.  I actually experienced the aortic tear three months prior to my surgery but managed to function very well.  Am experiencing a very slow recovery and that prompted my visit to this site.  Hoping to learn from everyone.

Hi Richard,

Thanks very much for your warm welcome.  I have to admit I have never used a blog or such a site before and so it may take me a while to get properly involved!  My story is at the age of 42 they discovered a type A dissection the entire length of my aorta, and three anuerisms, 9cm at the arch then 6cms and a 4.9cms infra renal one.  Long story as my first surgery had complications, I still have the infra renal one being monitored.  At some point I will posy my full tale.  In the meantime thanks again for your welcome, I am looking forward to being involved with people who can really understand!

Hi Richard!

Many Thanks for the kind welcome. I look forward to getting myself situated and familiar with the site and becoming a regular contributor. I'm very pleased to see AD is an active site, not somewhere that was created and then fizzled out due to loss of interest. I'll get working on posting my experience to my blog and perhaps someone might get something from it.

Best Regards,
