You had previously asked if anyone here has/had a dissection in the ascending aorta. I did. I had a DeBakey Type I dissection. I had a "David Procedure" Sept. 16th that repaired my aortic valve and aortic root and replaced my ascending aorta with a dacron hose. I am recovering very well. I am in a rehab exercise program through the hospital two mornings a week and starting Feb 5th I will work with a personal trainer to add two more days of cardio. Both are overseen by my cardiologist. Hope this finds you well. Best regards, Paul
Hi Nora, and welcome to the Aortic Dissection Forum. I see cheeky Richard has already welcomed you and yes - I am back from a couple of weeks of sun, sand and REST (The caps are for Richard!) in Greece..had a fab time - i am afraid that we have it all wrong here..they certainly have perfected 'relaxing'..!!
I have had a quick look through members and cannot see any members with an ascending aortic aneurysm as a current condition - however that does not mean to say we don't have amemeber with this condition..as members describing their conditions is not compulsory..However I would say that you area very lucky person as normally this is not caught until it goes..and that is not a good thing! Stay well, stay cool, and stick to your doctor like glue! Keep us informed as things progress and I'll keep looking for you! Once again - welcome!
hey again nora,
a life without laughter is like a room without windows...
strangely i cannot read through member applications once i have accepted people - so i can't tell you off the "top of my head" if anyone has or had an ascending aneurysm. maybe marion can, otherwise we'll have to wait until graeme gets back from sun, sea, sex and sand in rhodes.
i'll post a question in the forums asking...
welcome to the group! i notice in your application you state that you were born in 1861 - congratualtions you are our oldest member! ;)
if my hunch is right you are the friend Debbie has been worrying so much about. Post a little bit more about yourself in the blog section of the site (if you want to) and take a look in the forums at our ongoing discussions. Don't be afraid to contribute, ask questions or start new posts... we are all survivors here, and we all want to help each other!
