Welcome and sorry to have to meet you through such struggling circumstances.

I'm curious as to whether your doctors feel your asthma contributed to your aortic issues - whether from the coughing or from any meds you have had to use to deal with your asthma.

I used to get pneumonia or some really heavy bronchial infections back when I was teaching preschool - pretty much every winter I was gauranteed a round until I finally got the pneumonia shot and after my first surgery - it forced me out of being a preschool teacher.

I had tried a few inhalers and other asthma type meds since usually the pneumonia would kick into a virally induced asthma.

They haven't been able to figure out what caused my AD/aneurysm - mine took place when I was 38, had surgery at 39, and in July of this year had my 2nd surgery (to replace the original dissection/aneurysm as it had grown).

My surgery too included my kidneys - so they had to be severed and rebuilt.  My graft runs from my sternum down to just before my legs.

I feel for you completely.  Depending on where your aneurysm is - the size will determine when surgery is necessary.  They are getting so much better at it - just even within the last 6 years.  My scar looks like a huge shark bite out of my left side so I can relate to your cardigan battle wound!

You have survived and are meant to be here.  I know it s***s to have another one, but don't lose hope.  Take care of yourself and just trust your gut if you think something is up.  We are here in case you want to vent or to ask questions or even if you just want to write to get your thoughts out.

Take care,

Cher
