Aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm - The aorta - Life after an aortic dissection
With my upcoming surgery on Thursday, I'm hoping to have as much "support" as possible and I appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and wishes for me and I thank you dearly for them.
My sister requested a healing energy affirmation/prayer for me and if you are willing, could you please just read the words - Wednesday/Thursday as I could use all the positive energy I can get to get through the pre-surgery anxiety/sadness/fears and then through the actual surgery and on to the healing process.
You don't have to believe in what I do, I'd just appreciate the support --- and I thank you ahead of time.
The next 2 days is going to be pretty hectic as I'm trying to get everything organized before Thursday, so I'm blogging it now ---- I wish everyone the best --- and I'll try to get back on as soon as I can.
I will try to have my family update --- the plan according to the surgeon will be 3 days ICU and 10 to 14 days in the hospital --- my battery on my computer doesn't last so I won't have access to it --- and forget the little buttons on my cell phone for contacting via my cell phone (the pain meds alone will screw that up and I'd probably not type the right words anyway). I'll see if I can get someone to help me :).
Take care and again, thanks ahead if you are willing to read the following words --- CHER (Laloo guys!!!)

Comment by Cheryl Kerber on July 6, 2011 at 13:15 And to you Richard --- hope you get those pearly whites all nice and shiny Thursday at the dentist!!!!
The butterfly feeling in my stomach has started but I expected that --- I got plenty to distract me today (thank God there is always something to do (laundry, phone calls, figuring out what clothes to bring to the hospital (so much different than going on vacation - those lovely hospital robes are such a hit fashion you know) and I feel like I need to cook - (didn't think I'd appreciate that but I sure do today).
It's like "nesting" ugh --- but the realization is kicking in with my kids now so I feel like I need to keep today as normal as possible --- they have told me the days are ok, but at night - it hits them that I won't be here to say good-night to them --- that was the tough one they admitted to me last night.
I think I'm in a good place right now - at least it is sunny and nice out this morning which always helps with the mood.
Take care and shine those pearly whites for me tomorrow ;)

i wish you the best of luck for Thursday - be brave, be confident & be strong, I will be thinking of you!
The lumbar punture you asked me about is to balance the fluid that connects your brain & spine together. I am told its a new procedure as your brain can produce to much when having the opp & this puts pressure on you spinal nerves.
The spinal tap allowes for excess fluid to be drained over the time the surgery take place. Mayev worth asking your surgeon, all be it its a bit late.
I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF LUCK, MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU!
