Aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm - The aorta - Life after an aortic dissection
Hi everyone,Just thought I would update you all on my progress which seems to be good.I flew to Portugal for a weeks holiday last week and had a great time. I hardly thought about the AD and what had happened as I was too busy people watching. No one seemed to take any notice of my scar which I was concerned about but as I watched behind my sunglasses I realised quite quickly that it was not the case at all. I was very lucky with my holiday insurance as my husband has a group policy which we have had for many years and it covers all pre existing conditions yippee.
I started Cardiac Rehab class today and was very pleased with my progress as I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be and it gave me a lot of hope that I will continue to improve and life will normalise for me.
I have spoken to people who were there when I collapsed and I have been able to put a lot of things to the correct places in my mind or 'put them to bed' so to speak. I feel mentally much stronger although I am still aware of the ticking time bomb which is my aorta.
Life has changed for me I know but I still have a life which I intend to enjoy to the full.
Regards
Elaine

Comment by Kimberlee Jones on July 5, 2011 at 21:36 Glad to hear you are doing good and that you had such a pleasant vacation. You will begin to think less and less about being a time bomb, it never goes away complely, it sticks around just often enough to remind you to live life to the fullest.
*hugs*
