When things are only normal on the outside...

I wear my scar proudly. I know a lot of people, my mother-in-law, for instance, would prefer that I hide it behind a high collar or a scarf, but I'm not ashamed of what I've been through.

how the hell did i get here??

Those were my first thoughts when i awoke from the 2 week induced coma at my local hospital.

My last memory was of being home alone, standing, about to roll a joint when a strange sensation that had nothing to do with the dope, began.

No sharp pains, no symptoms of what was about to overwhelm my body, just a logical thought ...this does not feel ok... and my last thought before i blacked out was to press the emergency buttons on my mobile phone for ambulance service.

2nd aortic anuerysm CT scan 11 sept my birthday

i', now 47 years old woman,it 6 years since my last 5.5 major complicatedaortic anuerysm opI have a nice scar to remind me I'm alive. it two years since I was diagnosed with dillated cardiomyopthy & 3.5 cm TAA. just the other day I got Appiontment for CT angiogram aorta.It brought all back of my first one. i've been there done & got through it with my support  network. who was brillant.  It may be that it ok just needs scanning again in another year. all do wait. i dont know the…

My Story

On May 5, 2011 I was (literally) running to catch a plane with my husband en route to a dream cruise to the UK (transatlantic).  Halfway to the departure gate (of course it was the last gate) I had a sudden, unbelievable, ripping pain down my back that dropped me to my knees. I insisted my husband continue to the gate and hold the door for me - wasn't going to miss my trip.  I sat in the concourse holding my chest and trying to breathe - no idea what was wrong.  Apparently I was making noise…

My first holiday post AD

I have just returned from my first holiday since my AD last August.  It has been a long year recovering but most of all it's been great just being here.  My husband, sons, parents, brother and his family spent a week together at Centre Parcs.  I managed to swim and cycle which was a real treat as I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to do either of these things.  There certainly is life as AD and it's there for the taking, I can't do all the things that I could before my AD but I appreciate the…
