After a family meeting on Sunday, I have decided to go for the endograft. But I still have the feeling of taking the easy road. I have reasearched one surgery vs the other and I feel totally…Continue

During one of my trainings, I met a woman who's husband had an AD a few years ago. While sharing struggles after the surgery, she made a comment about her husband getting "phantom pains". Although I…Continue

Therefore things have been crazy for the last three weeks. He had several broken bones, a puncture lung, lacerated splint and liver. After several days of internal bleeding, he finally left the hospital on Tuesday, June 21st. He was safe from the neck up because he was wearing a helmet TG.
I was finally able to see the…

Hi every one!
I wanted to give you an update to my last postings.
After waiting all this time for the doctor to call me in regards to my endograft, today I found out he left the medical unit he was working for. The last time I heard from him was April 15, 2011. In a voice mail message he assured me he was making all of the arrangements for my surgery. I have been calling often for updates. I was informed he was on a trip and he will be back on May 13, 2011.…

Last Sunday I did not feel very well. After having dinner, I began to have abdominal and lower back pain. It was similar to the original dissection pain. But since I had some pain before, I figured it will go away in a few minutes. I presumed it was related to the dinner. I took a couple of Tylenol and wen to bed. Around 1:30 AM, I woke up with more pain. I took my blood pressure and it was 129/85. It was high because my doctor wants to keep it under 120/70. At that time, I decided to go to…

Richard Deal said… hey there maria,
i have not had the same happen to me yet, but the primary concern for my doctors in the still dissected abdominal aorta is the fact that one kidney is fed from the wrong lumen (the blood flows down to my legs and then luckily flows back to the kidney). this means they are always hyper-sensitive to my blood pressure as that is an indicator of kidney trouble.
keep your spirits up, this is just a little hiccup and it seems to have been caught in time. i am sure your doctors will be able to stent or maybe somehow bypass to the kidney.
take care,
r
