Ouch!

I had a fall yesterday and hurt my side.I don't quite know how it happened.  I was standing in our spare room / study tidying up a bit when I somehow lost my balance and fell against the front corner of the wardrobe.  I took most of the impact on my lower left side.  I think my left side (which is my weaker side since my stroke) didn't keep up with my brain!  Even though I was stood quite close I hit the wardrobe with enough force to break the door off its hinge.  Fortunately my wife was at…See More

Feeling drowsy

It is now four weeks since my operation to replace my ascending aorta with a graft and replace my aortic valve with a mechanical one.  My recovery seems to be going very well but I find I am still getting very drowsy a lot of the time.  If anything, my drowsiness has increased over the last couple of weeks and I find it more of a struggle to get going and to get out for my walks.  I don't have any trouble sleeping at night although I am quite a restless sleeper.   I'm not too bad in the…See More

"I do believe all of us have, I still after 5 years have days like that here and there. The good news is, as time goes by you'll have more "normal" days and less sleepy days.   Kimberlee"

Home sweet home!

Home at last!   Seems quite strange to be home again after all this time.  When I last left home I thought I would be back in a couple of hours, not three weeks later!  As David was saying, it takes some getting used to managing without the support of a dedicated medical team.  I've had a couple of walks around the house today but have felt quite tired and have rested quite a lot.  I guess it's all quite a shock to the system!  I have the district nurse coming tomorrow to test my INR but she… Continue

Still Here!

Hi all

Well I am still here and likely to be for the next 48 hours at least.  I've been pumped full of intravenous anti-biotics all through the weekend but my temp. was still a bit raised this morning and they don't want to take any chances.  I guess it doesn't matter where I recover as long as i do recover!

I feel pretty good in myself at the moment apart from sleeping a lot.   I think the Tramadol I am taking helps to dull any pains I might have.

I was getting pretty…

Not so close!

Seems like I am not quite as close to "the end of the beginning" as I thought!

Yesterday my temp  went over 38C which started a few alarm bells ringing.  I had been expecting to go home but perhaps I was unrealistic.  Now it looks like i'm here for the weekend.  I'm am now on antibiotics and have been put in isolation as my stools had been very loose.  They are worried about the usual seasonal nasties like Nora virus.  It's a pain but rather safe than sorry.  Problem now is that I…
